Little Stars Nursery has been awarded a Green Flag from Keep Scotland Beautiful for its commitment to environmental issues.

The nursery, based at the retail centre, was also recently given a five star review from the Care Inspectorate, the second since opening in 2013.

Accepting children from birth to 5 years old, the nursery uses the best technology to support development and has invested heavily in its outdoor space and garden.

The Eco-Schools Scotland Green Flag win, is a visible indication of Little Stars’ commitment to sustainability education. To win the award Little Stars have been following the seven elements of the programme to ensure the whole nursery and wider community has been involved.

Little Stars focused on biodiversity, litter, sustaining our world, waste minimisation and transport.

Kevin Gilmartin of Little Stars said: “We’re delighted with the Green Flag award which has allowed us to ensure our children are equipped with skills that they will need for the future as well as having an early understanding of the environment. Since opening the nursery four years ago, we’ve been dedicated in providing the best care and early education for our children. After a total refurbishment and constant investment, Little Stars is recognised as one of the best nurseries in Scotland which we’re all very proud of.”

The nursery, which is part of the Park’s retail centre, also has extensive parking with a specified pick up and drop off zone and works in partnership with Renfrewshire Council to offer free pre-school funding for over 3’s.
