COVID-19 Update
Here at Hillington Park, we aim to keep business moving forward during this difficult time and remain fully committed to providing an ongoing service to clients across all areas of our business. We will be reviewing and monitoring developments continuously, and finding new ways to collaborate with our colleagues and customers across the globe.

As we aim to adapt to working in both this very disruptive and fast changing time, our main priority is the safety and well-being of all our occupiers, staff and their families. From last week, we introduced strict measures in line with UK government advice and introduced new hygiene, social distancing and pre-meeting screening protocols in all our workplaces as well as finding new ways to operate remotely. Finally we would like to express our sympathies to everyone who has been affected and continues to be affected by the COVID-19 virus. We would also like to show our support to the key workers including doctors, nurses and teachers who are working tirelessly across the country.

First new malt launched by Glasgow’s first independent single malt distillery in 100 years
The Glasgow Distillery Company, the first independent single malt distillery to open in the city since 1902, has announced the launch of its 1770 Glasgow Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

The Hillington Park based business, which also distils the international award-winning Makar Gin, has released just 5,000 bottles of 1770 which will be allocated to customers via an online ballot, available to enter at glasgowdistillery.com and open until the 3rd of June.

The new whisky, named 1770 in a nod to the original Glasgow Distillery, now long-gone, which was founded in that year. The single malt has been created and crafted by the forward-thinking team at the distillery, with young and talented distillers at its core using state of the art equipment and traditional methods.

Liam Hughes, CEO and co-founder of The Glasgow Distillery Company said: “Glasgow is more industrious than industrial now – it’s somewhere that doesn’t stand still and always strives to better itself. And that’s exactly what we wanted for 1770; something distinctive, enterprising and of quality.

“The city is now part of a new chapter in the world of single malt whisky, which is really exciting. Our 1770 shines a light on modern Scotland – we’ve produced something we are very proud of.

“Our location on Hillington Park gives us easy access to our distribution network, be it our domestic market or our international customers.”
Grant Edmondson from Hillington Park said: “There are lots of exciting businesses on Hillington Park and The Glasgow Distillery is certainly one of them. The award winning Makar Gin is a firm favourite of gin drinkers and I’m sure that 1770 will become just as popular with whisky drinkers.

“There are many businesses operating within the food and drink sector, be it in manufacturing, distribution or brewing and distilling, who base themselves here because of its central location and the range of properties depending on the type of business and their size.”

1770 is the first wave of single malt whisky to be released by The Glasgow Distillery Company – but not the last. In 2019 and 2020, peated and triple-distilled single malt expressions will be released as part of continued annual limited-edition releases.
