Construction ramping up at major Hillington Park Development

The Hillington West 100 & 200 development is progressing well with the completion of steel frames on both units, cladding being erected and floor slabs being poured.

The development, which is the biggest speculative new build scheme on Scotland’s largest industrial estate in over 25 years, is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2022, with West 100 due to complete in January and West 200 in March.

Muir Construction is delivering a high quality BREEAM ‘Very Good’ scheme with each unit having large secure yard, office accommodation and a sustainable energy-efficient specification. Remediation of the brownfield site has been completed with over 4,000 m3 of contaminated and waste material removed and cleaned up, with the construction phase now utilising 3310m3 of concrete slabbing, over 460 tonnes of steel and almost 5000m2 of cladding.

Interest in the scheme is already ramping up with letting agents Ryden and Colliers reporting encouraging levels of occupier enquiries from logistics, manufacturing and construction services sectors across all unit sizes, which range from 5,111 to 25,467 sq ft. Lease terms have already been issued to a number of parties with the expectation that some units will be let before completion.

Commenting on construction progress, Julia Cheung Buchanan, Development Manager at Hillington Park said: “The Hillington West 100 & 200 development is moving on apace with both buildings now taking shape on site.  The latest aerial images show the tremendous progress made to date and give a clear indication of the true scale of this important development by Frasers Property.

“There is a lack of supply in the Glasgow industrial market so we are already turning our attention to a second phase called Hillington West 300 & 400 which will largely repeat the design and specification of Phase 1.”
