Kitchen Company’s Expansion Plans are Recipe for Success
One of Scotland’s fastest growing kitchen design and manufacturing companies has doubled its factory and retail space at Hillington Park as it gears up for further expansion.

To accommodate the company’s growth, The Kitchen Depot, a family business founded in 2003, has relocated to an 18,000 sq ft unit just minutes from its previous 9,000 sq ft premises on Hillington Park, one of Scotland’s largest industrial estates.  The business already has ten showrooms across the UK and also operates a second manufacturing facility in Telford in the West Midlands.

Set up by husband and wife team Jim and Grace McCay, the business now directly employs 52 staff, including seven members of the McCay family.  Its franchised stores employ a further 100 people.

As well as its retail and design service, the company manufactures custom made cabinets and doors in over 80 different colours for a range of rigid built kitchens to the domestic retail market.  By using the latest technology, each kitchen is individually made for each customer which allows a two-week turnaround from order to delivery for its standard colours.

Mark McCay, Managing Director of The Kitchen Depot said: “We’ve built the business based on our family values of honesty, integrity and sheer professionalism in all of our dealings with customers, suppliers and stakeholders, and as a result the business continues to grow.  We have plans to increase our franchise business and a further two stores are planned between now and the Summer.  Longer term our plan is to have 25 stores nationwide and our new facility will allow us to service these showrooms from the Hillington factory.

“Hillington Park is perfectly placed for our business.  We first moved here in 2006 and its central location, just off the M8, means easy access for customers, suppliers and staff.  It also allows our distribution team to deliver our custom build units easily and efficiently.  Having been able to expand within the footprint of Hillington Park, just minutes away from our previous factory, has meant the minimum of disruption to the business.”

Glen Spearing, Senior Asset Manager at Hillington Park said, said: “The Kitchen Depot’s growth ambitions are impressive and to see them unfold at Hillington Park is exciting.  We worked with the company to ensure its new premises were fit for business and would accommodate its current and future business goals.  Its new high-profile location, on Hillington Road, is perfect for such an ambitious retail company.”

The Kitchen Depot’s showrooms are in Hillington Park, East Kilbride, Dumbarton, Falkirk, Bishopbriggs, Oxford, Telford, Shrewsbury, Hemel Hempstead and Wolverhampton.
