Business Q&A: The Experience

Q. Not everyone knows that there is more to The Experience than fun and exciting electric karting. Can you tell us what else you do?
The karting is certainly a big part of the business but we are also perfectly set up to hold business events and meetings of varying sizes. We have a suite of quality meeting and events space, known as the Grand Prix Meeting Rooms that have just undergone a major refurb. The largest of the themed rooms, Monaco, can hold up to 90 people and the other rooms, Monza and Silverstone are ideal for smaller gatherings. We can provide AV equipment, flip charts and WIFI as well as various catering packages. And of course, we can combine work and pleasure with a special karting event for everyone to make it a day unlike any other.

Q. It sounds like business meetings could be a lot more fun with you! What could a typical visit be like for a business who decided to have a meeting at the Experience?
Of course every visit can be different as we’ll create something based on a business’s specific needs, but typically it could be a day starting with hot rolls with tea and coffee in the Refuel Café. After the important business chat in one of our three meetings rooms we can provide a lunch prepared with locally sourced, fresh ingredients, often from the urban garden here at Hillington Park. This could be a hot buffet made to order or choices from our extensive menu. Holding a meeting at The Experience is the ideal way to combine fun and formal, so we can organise karting for delegates afterwards as a way to blow off some steam following a productive meeting!

Q. Hillington Park is home to over 500 businesses of varying size; do you do a lot of business with them?
We have welcomed many in for karting, lunch and coffees but of course we’d love to welcome even
more. The real value for companies on the Park is that they don’t have to travel far for a high-quality meeting space, nice lunch or just a coffee because we’re right on their doorstep.

Q. And the catering is all done in-house, is that correct?
Yes. There is also another important element to the Refuel Café and that is its role in providing high quality employment training for young people looking for a move into the catering industry. The quality of their work has been recognised by VisitScotland’s Taste Our Best Award.

Q. If someone visiting or working on the Park just wants to visit the café they can pop in anytime for a coffee or a bite of lunch?
Absolutely, we open at 10am until late every day. Our Refuel Café is open daily and quite a few people pop in for a quick meeting over coffee. We’re also licensed so can provide a different kind of refreshment to delegates too.
