Business Q&A with Brian Gallacher – Pacific Building
This week’s Q&A is with Brian Gallacher, Managing Director of Pacific Building – a construction and fast fit-out company.

Q. What does your company do?
We are a building and fit-out company that operate in the commercial sector, particularly leisure and travel. We are recognised experts in Scotland for our fast-track capabilities delivering for UK and global brands including McDonald’s Restaurants. We pride ourselves on our people, relationships and professionalism – attributes have allowed us to grow organically as a company to generate new and repeat business and to meet fresh challenges with confidence. Pacific Building was established in 2005 with just a small staff and our journey to where we are now has been achieved due to landmark achievements, lasting client portfolios and financial success. Aside from McDonald’s our clients include Glasgow and Edinburgh International Airports, restaurant and bar chain Mitchells & Butlers, Tesco and YO! Sushi.

Q. What’s your role and what’s your average day like?
I’m the Managing Director, and there’s no such thing as an average day. Typically, however, I will be involved in meetings with the team in Hillington or visiting a site or a client. My biggest role is probably working alongside customers and potential customers to make sure we are getting things right for them.

Q. How long have you been at Hillington Park and what do you like about being here?
We have been in the park for six years now and there’s nothing not to like about it. The convenience of the M8 motorway and public transport links, the varied businesses, including retail and opportunities for a coffee or food, all go a long way to making it a great place to work. Also, Glasgow International Airport is only about a mile away, so it’s relatively easy for us to reach further-flung clients or for them to reach us.

Q. What’s the best business advice you’ve received?
The team around you are by far the most important asset in any business. Take care of them and they will take care of business.

Q. What’s been your proudest moment?
Seeing the company grow and enjoying repeat business from satisfied customers. We have achieved what we set out to achieve right from the start which was to be different from other construction and fit-out businesses.

Q. What do you do to relax?
I’m not good at relaxing but I do like to travel and I’m a keen skier, so in the winter months I try and get as much as that done as I possibly can.
